Join us on December 3, 2024 as we light up Peoria's Community Christmas Tree!
This 60-ft tree will stand tall on the Peoria Riverfront Museum's beautiful riverside campus, bringing cheer and holiday spirit to our community! This event is FREE to the general public, and will include a live brass quartet and more magical holiday cheer!

Alison Unkovich, who worked as an educator in Chicago for a decade, has returned to her hometown of Peoria, IL. Her vision of Christmas in the Village is to create a magical Christmas event that will provide an opportunity to bring our community together during the holiday season, as well as raise resources for the Museum’s Every Student Initiative. Alison is grateful for the amazing community and sponsors whose support helps raise up this village and bring this wonderful event to life on the Peoria Riverfront.
We are excited to present the third annual Christmas in the Village in Peoria, IL! This special event continues to grow each year, featuring an exciting line up of local food trucks and vendors, hot chocolate and holiday cocktails, horse-drawn carriage rides, a holiday laser light show, carolers, live animals, the Peoria Ballet Nutcracker ballerinas, holidays movies in the Giant Screen Theater, museum exhibitions, some special exciting surprises, and Peoria’s LARGEST live Christmas tree!

Break out your holiday PJs and join us for a magical holiday morning with Santa and friends!
Enjoy a delicious breakfast with specially themed activities followed by a screening of "The Polar Express" in the Giant Screen Theater. Each child receives a gift.
This event will also include a special appearance by your favorite characters: Elmo, The Grinch, SpongeBob SquarePants, Mickey Mouse and of course...Santa Claus himself!
Breakfast will include: cheesy scrambled eggs, tater tots, applewood smoked bacon, sausage patties, fresh fruit and sugar pearl waffles. There will also be a hot chocolate bar, and a coffee and juice station.
After the movie, feel free to explore all exhibitions, including The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited and watch a planetarium show!

A MUSEUM+ Program

Join guest curators of performance for the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Nathan Gunn and Julie Gunn as we turn the museum into a magical Winter Wonderland! Participate in a sing-a-long holiday concert that will leave you full of holiday spirit, with Nathan and Julie leading the group in singing classic Christmas carols including "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Joy to the World," "Blue Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," and many more.
The festivities begin with a pre-concert reception at 6 p.m. in the Grand Lobby, followed by Julie Gunn at the piano, and Nathan Gunn leading you in joyful song! Nathan Gunn, Grammy award winning baritone, will additionally be performing a few solo songs.

Yoga Under the Stars
Saturday, December 21 | 6 p.m.
Join us for a memorable evening of meditative yoga movement and winter solstice stargazing in the Dome Planetarium in Downtown Peoria, IL. Upon arrival you'll settle in and get connected to the beauty and wonder of the Winter Solstice sky above us, learning about our winter constellations and the longest night.
Then we'll immerse in a yoga practice under the stars to celebrate the wisdom & wonder of the winter solstice together in breath, movement & reflection. Let's calibrate our internal clocks to the returning of light with this memorable experience. Yoga is led by Tammy Mitchell aka TamoVision, a full time yoga educator specializing in personalized yoga & immersive training at OM on the River Yoga Center in Downtown Peoria. This community class is suitable for beginners & beyond. You'll always be encouraged to take the class at your own pace and to lean into the support of the collective. Please bring a yoga mat & blanket. Let's get cozy & connected under the Winter Solstice stars.

Limited mats are available, please bring a mat and a light blanket. Doors open at 5:45 pm. All supplies provided for programs unless otherwise noted. Packet Pickup: Friday, April 4, from 12:30-5:30 PM, and race day starting at 7:30 AM, in the museum's auditorium on the lower level.
April 5, 2025:
• 7:30-8:30 am: Race day registration; packet pickup
• 9 am: 5K Race start
• 9:05 am: 1 Mile Fitness Walk start
• 9:30 am: Kids' 1/2 Mile Fun Run start
• Refreshments after 5K race; awards after the Kids' Fun Run
Participants can choose to receive a race shirt, or skip it for a discount on registration. Must register by March 7 to guarantee a shirt.
